Yarra Trams
Yarra Trams operates one of Melbourne’s most historically significant networks, with several depots dating back more than a century. Ecologiq was engaged to deliver a full engineering assessment program supporting future solar deployment across all major tram depots. The work required a tailored and highly technical approach due to heritage overlays, unconventional roof geometries, and the operational constraints of active transport sites.
Our engineers completed detailed structural and electrical assessments across the heritage depots, using laser measurement and selective 3D scanning to map complex roof geometries without disturbance. Advanced modelling evaluated uplift forces, load paths, truss capacity and solar system compatibility. Where required, we designed reinforcement solutions that strengthened ageing structures while preserving their architectural character.
